What Can I Do If I May Not Be Able to Vote in Person on Election Day, November 7, 2023?
Absentee Ballots/Early Voting are just different ways to describe the same process…voting without going to your polling place on Election Day. Any registered Maine voter may cast an absentee/early ballot instead of voting in person on Election Day.
- 30 days before the election (by October 10) ballots are ready at the city clerk’s office.
- You can vote IN PERSON at city hall during regular business hours, 8:30 to 4:00, beginning October 10.
- You can request a ballot be mailed to you.
- IMPORTANT: In person voting and absentee ballot requests END at the close of the city clerk’s office on the THURSDAY BEFORE ELECTION DAY (November 2)
Here’s how to request a ballot:
- Online https://www.maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/AbsenteeBallot/index.pl
- Or…Call the Auburn city clerk (207.333.6601, extension 1121 or 1124)
- Or…Visit the city clerk in person and fill out a form. You will receive a ballot to take home OR you can vote right there in person!
If you fill out your ballot at home remember to:
- Sign the back of the return envelope. Put a stamp on the envelope!!
- Mail your ballot by 7 days before the election (October 31) to assure it arrives in time.
- Or…return the ballot in person TO THE CITY CLERK’s OFFICE by 8 pm on Election Day (do not take your ballot to your regular polling a place)
- Or…place your ballot in the drop box just outside City Hall, in the courtyard between the parking garage and City Hall.
